Mission Statement

The VOICE of Sedona is a Sedona Arizona based initiative comprised of community-minded organizations and individuals collaborating on building a “Community For All Ages” (CFAA), as contemplated nationally by the Temple University Center for Intergenerational Learning, administered in Arizona by the Arizona Community Foundation and coordinated locally by the Sedona Community Center. By leveraging limited resources and creating intergenerational alliances, the CFAA framework seeks to build inclusive constituencies and environments where residents can both grow up and grow old. The core elements of a Community for All Ages include:

* A continuum of accessible health and social services that support individuals and families across the life course;
* Opportunities for lifelong civic engagement and learning;
* Diverse and affordable housing and transportation options that address changing needs
* A physical environment that promotes healthy living and the wise use of natural resources;
* Policies, facilities and public spaces that foster interaction across generations; and
* Strong social networks that include all ages and cultures.

The VOICE of Sedona, across an anticipated five year lifespan will seek to:

* Build awareness of the value of using a life span approach to community building;
* Bring together key stakeholders in the community to identify common concerns and develop strategies that benefit multiple generations within the community;
* Implement multi-generational approaches that address identified priorities.

An assessment and planning team is in the process of being assembled and areas of priority concern identified. Participants include representatives of all key constituencies, such as local government, education, youth- and elder-centric organizations, the faith-based community, environmental focused groups, civic organizations, business & commerce interests, and arts & cultural groups. Participation of all concerned organizations and individuals is encouraged on a variety of levels.
